Workshop Instructors

Don & Jean Kingen
Established in 1998, Dancin' DJ's, LLC has become one of the premier providers of DJ Services and Dance Instruction in the Indianapolis, Bloomington and Columbus, Indiana area. They are a husband and wife team, with Don playing all of the music at event, while Jean serves as the Master of Ceremonies as well as the Event Coordinator. Don and Jean specialize in teaching West Coast Swing. They are available for private lessons while they are at Jammin In July.

Sophy Kdep & Jason Miklic
Jason and Sophy met on the dance floor in May of 1998 at a Swing and Country Dance Event and they’ve been dancing together ever since. They travel all over the country competing, teaching, judging and performing. They compete with other partners in the Classic Division and together in the Showcase division. They are currently ranked top 5 nationally in the West Coast Swing Showcase Division. Jason and Sophy teach at Step-N-Out Studio in Covington, Kentucky. Jason specialize in swing, country, hustle, ballroom and theatre arts. Sophy specializes in swing, country, hustle and theatre arts. They are passionate promoters of west coast swing, the dance that is sweeping the nation as the soon to be number one dance style. As instructors, they are known for their unique ability to illustrate techniques to give their students a better understanding of movements and to achieve their maximum dancing potential. Jason and Sophy love to share their passion and knowledge for dancing.

Jim Becker
Jim teaches WCS part-time and is Founder of Chicago X Dance swing Club (www.XDance.com) & co founder of (www.XDanceSouth.com)
Jim is an accomplished dancer in his own right and has earned numerous awards throughout the country. His first big win was taking a 1st Place and then doing it 3 years consecutively at the Mid U.S. Innovational Championships. Jim’s biggest accomplishment was taking 5th place on the N.A.S.D.E. Tour (National Association of Swing Dance Events) Tour in 2004. You will see him from time to time competing but, mostly Judging and Coaching.
Jim is currently spearheading a Magazine just for Chicago and Dance. Go Dance Chicago will have its first release in the summer of 2007. Each feature will have a cover story and a chance for everyone to market dance. The Magazine will hit 480 Dance Studios, Dance Clubs and Dance Events in and around the Chicago area.
Jim teaches privates and group classes in and around Chicago and is one of Swing N Country’s regular instructors.
Bevery Solazzo
Beverly Solazzo has been a swing dance instructor since 1992. She is the past Dance Director of Chicago’s Windy City Jitterbug Club and chief architect of that club’s 15 year lesson program including jitterbug, west coast swing, hustle, nightclub 2, cha cha, waltz and country 2-step. In addition to being a lead instructor for that club, she has taught workshops at national ABA Dance Conventions and Swing events. Bev comes from a community theatre background including dancing, acting, choreographing and directing. She has been dancing for 35 years and has placed in various swing events, both nationally and locally. Bev holds the titles of Chicago Citywide Jitterbug Champ for 1993 & 1995 and 1997 Masters Rising Star Champ. In 2007, Bev and her competition partner, Randy Slone, joined the National Masters Swing Dance Tour and placed in the Top 10 Master Dance Couples at the U.S. Open. Bev is happy to be back as one of this year’s instructors at Columbus Swing Dance Club’s Jammin’ in July.

Kristi Waltz
Kristi is a member of the Columbus Swing Dance Club and has provided many hours of dance instruction to our members. As one of Columbus's top dance instructors, she conducts workshops for many groups and clubs in the area.
The beginner as well as the advanced dancer can learn from Kristi's training with national dance champions and from her years of experience dancing various styles. Kristi instructs her workshops with professionalism while maintaining a fun learning environment. Her workshops range from east cost swing, night club two step, cha-cha, west coast swing, and ballroom.
Many partriciants of Kristi's workshops leave with a good foundation that prepares them with ease for the next level of their dance experience.
